Research

My research interests are strongly interacting bosonic systems. A model to study the behaviour of such systems is given by the Bose-Hubbard model. In my diploma-thesis I studied phase-diagrams in the case of a nearest-neighbour interaction applying a mean-field theory. In addition to that, the case of an external magnetic field was studied by a pertubation theoretical ansatz. This leads to the Hofstadter-butterfly problem and gives results, which can be qualitatively compared with Josephson-Junction array experiments, at least for a certain part of the magnetic spectrum. My actual work will now be concentrated on extending the perturbation theory to reaching a higher order and to study the case of nearest-neighbour interaction.
